Theory in the studio, part 3

OK, I am bringing theory into the studio – I hope. In thinking more about Buchloh’s article on Gerhart Richter’s contemporary history paintings, and looking back thorough some of my own, which I’ll show today – I was trying to do the same thing and didn’t realize it. The updating of the history painting as a way for an artist to make a political statement, or a way chronicle an event that mass media ignores I find exciting.
